Grand Master Fung Keung
Kulo Wing Chun is a martial art taught by Leung Jan in his hometown of Gulao village, Heshan in his later years (at the age of 70) to Wong Wah Sam, who was 23 at the time. It’s empty hand curriculum primarily consists of twelve short sets of loose techniques and the partner-applications drills of these techniques.
In 1937, at the age of 82, Wong Wah Sam passed on the art to 17-year-old Fung Chiu Chun.
Grandmaster Fung Yim Keung, having studied under his father since childhood, is the fourth-generation successor of Kulo Wing Chun and has received the true transmission from the elder Fung.
In 1996, Grandmaster Fung settled in Hong Kong, where he practices Traditional Chinese Medicine specializing in bone setting treatment. He maintains low-profile throughout his life. Apart from his professional practice and personal training, he selectively teaches students who are committed to preserving Wing Chun in private settings. Through years of dedicated practice, his Wing Chun Kuen’s skills has reached a state where it moves effortlessly from form to formlessness, achieving the realm of natural spontaneity.
Kulo Wing Chun is categorized as an internal martial art, where every movement is powered by internal energy. It emphasizes the unity of intention, energy, and force, making it highly practical for combat.
Another characteristic of Kulo Wing Chun is its relatively gentle movements, making it suitable for people of all ages and genders. These gentle movements also helps to achieve the effect of strengthening the body.
